DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Season of Birth – Kambarang!\nWe’ve stepped into the vibrant embrace of Kambarang, the fifth season of the Noongar calendar, spanning from October to November.\nDuring Kambarang, our surroundings come alive with a riot of colours, marking the height of the wildflower season. Acacias in bright yellows, Banksias, Kangaroo Paws, and Orchids paint a breathtaking tapestry of nature’s wonders. Look out for the striking display of the ” Moodjar,” or Australian Christmas Tree (Nuytsia), signalling the warmth on its way with bright orange/yellow flowers.\nAs the temperature rises, so does the activity in the animal kingdom. Reptiles awaken from their hibernation, seeking warmth and energy to embark on their search for food. It’s also the season when young bird families sing out for their parents to feed them, and protective Koolbardies (Magpies) swoop to guard their precious babies.\nKambarang brings longer dry periods accompanying a definite warming trend. Traditionally, this is the time when Noongar people moved towards the coast, where freshwater crayfish, frogs, and tortoises supplemented their diets.\nLet’s celebrate the beauty of Kambarang – a season of transformation, birth, and the incredible diversity of the natural world. Whether you’re enjoying the wildflowers or observing the awakening reptiles, take a moment to connect with the richness that Kambarang brings.\n
